Just to clarify - my son is of Chinese parentage, and has special needs, but was not born in China--we adopted him as a newborn here in the US (we were LID in China, also, but decided to try domestic because of the long wait, and ended up with a Chinese-American baby. Life is funny!). So a lot of the issues I describe with his allergies and so on are much more common in infants than in toddlers, although tods coming from China to here can definitely develop sensitivities because of changing to different foods & additives and stuff. Anyway his "official" special needs are that he's missing his left forearm and hand, and he has an ASD (small heart defect).
