shared list changes

March 8, 2010

The CCAA has made an announcement regarding the process in which families will be able to lock in files of children on the shared list.

From the statement, the CCAA addresses the frustration of agencies to be able to lock in files for families already LID, due to the overwhelming traffic when a new shared list is released. In order to relieve some of the backlog of families waiting to be matched who are already LID, the CCAA is now enforcing a policy that LID only families have preference when a new shared list is released. Only LID families will be allowed to lock in a child who has been on the shared list for less than a month.

Additionally, up to 72 hours may be allowed for potential families to decide whether or not to permanently lock a child's file.

  1. I think these sound like good changes. Like this new director is cleaning up policies with the well-being of the kids in mind first? Matching a child to a family already LID means that child has a shorter wait, right?!

  2. I agree, for the most part.
Unfortunately, many children find families because of a picture on a WC list... for our family, we would have never pursued Vivi if we hadn't seen her sweet face.
And I have to wonder, with her arm deformity, clubfoot and possible dwarfism 'diagnosis'... how long might she have waited?

  3. our agency has always posted on a password protected site pictures and medical information of the children unmatched on the shared list. That is how we found two of our children. Their heart has always been to give kids an opportunity to be seen by families with the hope of finding homes for them. Something to think about when finding an agency.
